Unanticipated difficult airway for an anaesthetist is a life-threatening situation for a patient
during intubation, risking hypoxia and its serious consequences.
Although extremely rare, failure to secure supraglottic airway and oxygenation may need
emergency front of neck airway (eFONA) in elective or emergency situations where one
can’t intubate or can’t oxygenate (CICO).
It is mandatory for a diligent anaesthetist to learn and practice this skill to save a patient.
This workshop aims to update the current literature knowledge, technical and non-technical
skills to overcome the life-threatening scenario with simulation.
The participants will have hands on experience with simulation of difficult airway to access
eFONA using scalpel-bougie/cannula techniques as life saving measures.
